April Favourites ♥

This year is going so so quickly! Some amazing things have happened this month! I can confirm that I will be in America for three months this summer! I am super excited! (Any tips on travelling to the USA are very much welcome in the comments section below!). Also in April I went on my first run in a while because I want to do a half marathon soon! My time was what I wanted so this was a promising start! As well as this I have finally finished my first book since completing my degree (which ended almost a year ago!). When I completed my English Literature degree I strangely had little desire to finish a whole book as I read about 1-2 a week for 3 years. It didn’t feel like reading was a pleasure anymore but more like something I had to do in order to formulate an assignment. It wasn’t that I fell out of love with literature per-say..believe me I tried to read but could never stick with a book long enough so now I have about 7 half read books lying about my house! But I am so glad that I am finally out of this reading funk because I truly enjoy reading! It is also why I haven’t really blogged as much too because of the sheer volume of essay writing required for my degree. Fashion and beauty is my passion so I am excited to share a few purchases I have made this month…

♥ Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lip gloss shade Plums Up

My auntie is a huge fan of the Sexy Mother Pucker lip gloss range from Soap and Glory. I have always thought the lip glosses they do were really pretty shades so on a spontaneous trip around Boots I picked this one up. Once you apply it to your lips it makes them tingle as it ‘plumps them’. I don’t really know if it does make them any bigger as my lips as quite big but I do know that it is a gorgeous shade! It isn’t a sticky lip gloss and stays on a while so would for sure recommend this product. £9.00

♥ Eyelure London Exaggerate No 145 Fake Eyelashes

I needed some last minute fake lashes for a night out so bought these from Boots. Eyelure has in my opinion always been a reliable brand for fake lashes so went straight for these! There were lots of different types but I usually go for volume (when I was younger I used to wear two pairs of fake lashes on nights out!!). They were only £5.45 and came with glue. The glue is a bit rubbish but thankfully I have my own glue! Lashes great but glue not so great!

♥ Natural Collection Lip Liner Ruby Rose

This lip liner is only £1.99 from Boots. It is really good! I needed a lip liner for my VIVA GLAM MAC lip stick as it bleeds sometimes. It is super for the price – would definitely recommend!

♥ MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick

This is in my opinion an essential for any girl to have in her make up bag! Class matte red lipstick from MAC. £15.50 but well worth the price!

Here gooooes…

What’s your number one holy grail high street or ‘drugstore’ product?

It would have to be vaseline! I swear by it – whether it is chapped lips/skin, holding your eyebrow shape in place, highlighting your cheek bones – I love it! It is so kind to skin and soo unbelievably cheap!

Which product is currently on the top of your wishlist?

MAC Sculpt and Shape Powder to add to my contour product collection!

 Sculpt and Shape Powder

How long have you been blogging for?

I’ve been blogging now for almost three years! It has gone super quick and my blog has evolved so much over those three years. I am so happy with the direction it has taken. It all started in my room at my halls of residence at university!

What’s your favourite item of clothing for the cooler months?

I love my knit wear! My Grandma gave me a dark pink turtle neck jumper last winter and I absolutely love it! She has the matching one in light pink!

What inspired you to start your blog?

A few things inspired me really. I watched the film ‘Perfect Man’ when I was younger and had my Hilary Duff obsession. In that film the main character has a blog and it really interested me but when I was little blogging really wasn’t a thing or wasn’t as big as it is now. Another thing which inspired me to start my blog was Carrie Bradshaw! She’s a cosmopolitan, fashion loving writer from New York in the well known programme Sex and The City – and well who wouldn’t want to be her?!

The favourite part of your makeup routine?

Contouring! I loveeee contouring! I have now worked out (after a lot of trial and error!) the best shapes and shades for the different parts of my face now! I love contouring with my Sephora contouring kit – it is definitely my favourite make up item I own at the moment!

What’s your favourite brand of makeup?

MAC is definitely my favourite brand of make up. Even though at times it can be quite costly, all my items I have bought from there are amazing quality and last such a long time! I want to know that what I am putting on my skin is good for it and I can guarantee when I buy MAC branded products that I won’t have an allergic reaction or anything. Also I think the products themselves are incredible – the lipsticks especially are amazing!

What’s one product you think everyone should own?

Simple Moisturiser Light. I literally swear by this. I use it as a primer, as a moisturiser, as a hand cream and as an aftersun. It is super cheap (often in the 3 for 2 deal at Boots). I always buy this product about 3 at a time! It makes my skin feel so fresh and unlike other moisturisers it doesn’t leave your skin feeling oily. Also it’s great for all skin types – my younger cousin uses it as well as my Grandma!

What is your favourite skin care product that you feel has made the most difference in your skin?

Probably Simple Cleanser, Simple Toner and Simple Moisturiser Light used together. The cleanse-tone-moisturise routine did my skin wonders! These products are so friendly to my skin and are high street brands too so they don’t break the bank!

If you could have any celebrities hair, whose would it be?

It would have to be the old school Cheryl Cole hair do!

I love the colour, the length and the volume! Definitely hair goals!

I would like to nominate anybody who would like to do this tag! xox

May Favourites ♥

These past few days have been crazy! I graduated from university then moved back home (so had to sort through a mountain of bags). Now that’s all sorted I thought I’d sit down and write my monthly favourites! I only have four this month as I haven’t really had chance to do lots of product shopping because of my uni deadlines!

Impulse – True Love Body Spray

I used to wear this when I was younger, I recently re-bought some. I love the floral smell, it’s perfect to have in your bag for Summer if you want to freshen up. I love the impulse ‘tease’ body spray too. It’s not too overpowering. You also have the choice of two sizes so the smaller one is perfect for your handbag. It’s only £1 too, so really good value for money.

Superdrug’s Solait False Tanning Lotion

I bought this years ago and just replace it every time I run out. I wanted a tan that would look natural and not streaky or orange. This one is perfect! I use medium to dark and do about 2-3 layers (there is also a light to medium option). It’s super easy to use, lasts a while and doesn’t have the ‘fake tan smell’. It smells like coconut and actually lasts after a few showers too! It’s really natural looking (people don’t believe me when I tell them it’s fake). It is more of a cream too as opposed to a mousse so doesn’t make any mess! £6.99 from Superdrug.

L’Oreal Elvive Nutri-Gloss Shine Shampoo and Conditioner

I bought them on offer this month for £1.99 (each) from Boots. I am such a girly girl so must admit the pink sparkly packaging and sparkles in the shampoo/conditioner kind of drew me towards them! I definitely wasn’t disappointed, they made my hair really soft and shiny. Also it smells lovely as well. The only downside is the product comes out waaay too fast so you end up using more than you intended but I loved the products themselves!

Soap and Glory Mist You Madly Body Spray

£6.50 from Boots (and in the 3 for 2 offer). I loveeee Soap and Glory’s bodysprays! It is a fresh/sweet smell. I love how it’s a body mist as well (as I never really buy body mists). The smell stays on your clothes/you for a while too. I think the sprays are a great value for money.

On My Wish List

Barry M Brow Kit

A Review of Topshop Military Boots

A few months ago I was in town shopping with one of my best friends and my boots just split. When I say split I mean literally-cannot-even-make-it-home kinda split. I usually get my boots from Dorothy Perkins but in my uni town it has closed down (sad times) so I thought why not try Topshop? I didn’t want to spend loads because I had to buy them on a whim. I found some that were down to £27.00 from £45.00. I couldn’t find the exact picture of them online but they are so similiar to the ones below but mine has a buckle across the front too. They turned out to be the best boots I have ever owned! I would definitely recommend buying boots from Topshop, they’re much better than any I have ever bought from New Look or Dorothy Perkins. They last so so much longer.

Black lace up chunky boots

What did I think?

They are amazing! They are so sturdy and have a brilliant grip on them. I have walked in them in snow, ice, rain – my feet have always stayed dry and I haven’t slipped once (and you could say I am a tad clumsy)! They are dead easy to polish and look great with jeans, skirts, dresses. I have actually even worn them on a night out! They did take a bit of wearing in though (my poor feet cried for about two weeks) but it was definitely worth it!

Are they worth the price?

Definitely! They were originally £45.00 but I bought them for £27.00. I saw that they had been reduced AGAIN to £20.00 so bought my mom some too! They miiiiiight even be some left in a Topshop near you!
